The best B & B we ever had. Jim and Caroline were very friendly and provided a lot of info about the Island. The bedroom and living room were spacious, clean and comfortable. The view from the garden was stunning. Breakfast was good too. We just stayed for one night but we did hope that we could stay longer. Will definitely stay here if we visit the Islay again. Highly recommend to everyone.

Last year 6 friends of mine and I visited this lovely cottage just outside Bowmore. the view from the garden on mull of OA and loch indaal is massive. it stands in a sort of serenity. Jim and his family were very hospitable. Surely next time we visit islay, we will take the same cottage again. thank you Jim!

Spent four days in a very nice B&B with a very welcoming family who could not do enough to make us welcome. Accommodation very good, breakfast cooked fresh and lots or it. Jim was a wealth of info about things to do on the island.

We spent four fantastic days on Islay in full sunshine and with lots of whiskey tasting. The accomodation at Dha Urlar was perfect. Good location, nice spacious room with a big comfortable bed and a friendly host that welcomed us into his family. We very much appreciated our chats over an evening cup of tea or sitting in the kitchen when the Scottish breakfast was prepared. The short distance to "downtown" Bowmore gave us stimulating walks, particularly needed after a full dinner at one of the restaurants. In our minds the sun is always shining on Islay and we will cherish the memories from our vacation during the long, dark and cold winter. Thanks a lot MacCalman family! Your B&B is highly recommended!

We highly recommend Dha Uhlar B&B. Our hosts Jim and Caroline MacCalman ensured that we had a fabulous week. Our room was wonderfully spacious and we had a very comfortable king sized bed ensuring a great sleep. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts - there was a good selection of continental and traditional Scottish choices on offer. Jim (and father) and Caroline were able to give us lots of information about Islay and its people. This contributed significantly to my husband being able to trace a long lost branch of his family tree. He even managed to trace and meet with a relative who, coincidently, was visiting Islay at the same time! The B&B is well positioned for touring the island. I only wish our stay could have been longer. Hopefully, we can return soon.

Our stay in Islay was delightful and restful. The MacCalman family and B&B were the perfect place to come and spend a holiday. Being able to relax and enjoy everything Islay has to offer. The accommodations were comfortable and quite providing a much needed restful sleep. Breakfast was delicious every morning. Dha Uhlar is close enough to town you can take a stroll into Bowmore for dinner, a tour at the distillery or just a walk at the shore and watch the sunset. Whether you are there for a weekend or a week you will enjoy the hospitality and vast knowledge the MacCalmans have about the island. Thank you Jim and Caroline for making our first trip to Islay and my husbands birthday a delight. We are looking forward to our next trip.
